Capturing History: The Freedom Fountain Launch in Westminster

We recently documented a remarkable event in the historic surroundings of Westminster. Organised by Bridging Worlds CIO, a Cambridge-based charity, the evening marked the launch of the Freedom Fountain project - a memorial recognising the diverse nations that made up the United British Indian Army and honouring their courage and sacrifices.

Some of the guests included the Speaker of the House, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, and local MPs Daniel Zeichner and Pippa Heylings, alongside representatives from government, charities, historians, and community leaders.

The evening included thoughtful speeches, meaningful discussions, and several deeply personal moments. One particularly touching moment saw historian Dr. Tejpal Singh Ralmill present 105-year-old Captain Yavar Abbas with regimental buttons connected to a photograph taken nearly 80 years ago.

It was an honour to capture such an important occasion and the moments that made the evening so memorable.

Below you’ll find a small gallery with a few selected images from the event, shared with permission.
